Haworth was named for a train station that once stood in the borough, which in turn was named by railroad financier John S. Sauzade for the village of Haworth in north-central England, home of the Bronte sisters, whose poems and novels -- including the literary classic Jane Eyre -- were greatly admired by Sauzade.

Standout Feature
The intimate and small-town atmosphere, as evidenced by its low population, discreet main retail street, and self-contained, single-facility public school district covering primary education through the eighth grade

Haworth is a borough located in northern New Jersey within Bergen County. The borough is co-terminus with the Haworth Public School District (covering kindergarten through eighth grade), and is also part of the Northern Valley Regional High School District (covering ninth grade through 12th grade), which it shares with neighboring Demarest and Closter. Commuter rail access to New York City is available from Oradell Station in nearby Oradell.
Haworth is a quiet borough set amidst a heavily wooded area, belying its proximity to the nation's largest city. The borough's main retail street has a charming feel that could be mistaken for a small town in middle America. Beyond Haworth's boutique profile, residents love the first-rate public schools, close-knit community, and transit access to Manhattan.
